Voiceover Conferences are available 6 months out of the year!

VOAtlanta Atlanta in March organized by Anna and J. Michael Collins

JMC EURO VO Retreat Various European destinations in May organized by J. Michael Collins

One Voice Conference USA Dallas in August organized by Gravy for the Brain.

Mid-Atlantic Voiceover Conference (MAVO) Washington DC in November

That's Voiceover Career Expo LA in December organized by Society of Voice Arts

Conference season is in full swing, starting with the VO Atlanta Conference, held in March every year. There are in-person and online sessions, with access to many of the sessions online after the event. There is a lot to take in with over 120+ sessions (which include panels, sessions, and a specialty audiobook academy). Many sessions and panels happen at concurrent times (as in many of the conferences), so it takes a bit of planning ahead of time to decide where one’s priorities and interests lie. Some sessions are geared towards newbies, while many of the others will concentrate on VO genres, demos, auditioning, and business aspects.

I participated in VO Atlanta 2022, both as an attendee and a speaker. I was on a panel discussing the impact of AI voices and gave a workshop call The Great VO Experiment.

The now defunct Voiceover Network (VON) hosted Get Your Game On with its last conference taking place in Los Angeles, November 2024. It was the only dedicated voiceover conference for the video game voiceover industry with conferences held yearly in both LA and London. There were masterclasses and sessions on performance capture, character performances, and auditioning. Hopefully, another conference will be able to fill the void.

The One Voice Conference UK, always the innovator, One Voice’s Hybrid+ will have online sessions and in-person sessions in Docklands, London. Panels, talks, workshops, and event sessions on every aspect of the industry imaginable. Their One Voice Awards Gala will follow the conference. One Voice Conference USA will be held in August in Dallas.

I spoke at One Voice in London 2022 on "How to Expand your VO business"

The Actor’s Voiceover Experience (AVOX) was suppose to be July 2 & 3rd at the Pasadena Convention Center and wasn't a voiceover conference per se. It’s was a superfan convention filled with well-known VO artists from the anime, animation, and gaming industry. Events were planned such as autographs, contests, live improv, dubbing, and table reads from some of the world’s best in the business. This event unfortunately has been cancelled for the last several years.

The Mid-Atlantic Voiceover Conference (MAVO) is held in November in person in Herndon, VA (Washington Dulles). Marc Grau was a previous keynote speaker with many other great speakers in the industry taking part. It is a more all-inclusive voiceover package with general conference sessions, lunches and mixers being all part of their voiceover package, making for some great networking and socializing.

Then usually right before the Christmas holidays is, Society of Voice Arts & Science That’s Voiceover Career Expo. They provide a great voiceover variety of classes ranging from the business of voiceovers to the latest in dubbing techniques. It concludes with the prestigious SOVA's awards.

The wealth of information and learning opportunities are available yearly, at these well known conferences. Most working voice actors have a resume full of bespoke classes and conferences they have attended. It’s a great way to immerse oneself in voice over, improve skills and learn about the industry from the industry leaders.
