The world of voice acting is evolving fast, and IMDb has become a crucial platform for voice actors to showcase their work and make connections with industry professionals. Staying updated on IMDb’s latest features and changes can help ensure that your profile is optimized. I’ve gathered important news and updates about IMDb that directly impact voice actors. These insights will help you understand how to better use IMDbPro to boost your visibility.

Latest IMDb’s Tools and Updates for Voice Actors
IMDb has been working hard to revamp their website and app. An effort led by CEO Nikki Santoro and developed alongside the National Association of Voice Actors (NAVA) and SAG-AFTRA, aims to treat vocal performance with the same prestige as on-camera acting. They recently introduced several tools designed to improve how all creatives, including voice actors, manage their profiles and credits.
One of the key updates is the enhanced credit submission process. Now, voice actors can submit their voice roles more easily with quicker turnarounds.
Uncredited or background voice work, which was previously difficult to showcase can be directly added yourself with more transparency on profiles. This means you can build a more complete portfolio on your IMDb page.
There have been improvements to other self editing areas of the IMDbpro profile. You can now set your primary professions directly on your Name page and select or reorder the titles that appear in your "Known For" section instantly instead of going through the old contribution interface.
Another useful feature is IMDbpro Discover which provides specific filters in the search and casting sections. Casting directors can now filter searches to find voice actors based on specific credit details such as affiliations, locations, accents, genres and more. They can also search if you have video demo reels listed on the site, so it's important to have your profile updated with these. This can help increase your visibility and chances of being discovered for roles that match your unique skills, when searched on IMDb.
IMDb Changes for Voice Actors
One of the most IMPORTANT changes that directly affect voice actors is the NEW
"Voice Actor - Dubbing" professional headliner listing. It replaces the need for voice talent to be listed under "Additional Crew" for dubbing work. Dubbing credits are also now being listed separately from other credits for movies and TV shows. Dubbing credits are accepted in English, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish. There is also a Podcaster listing while "ADR Looping" that doesn't fit in the new category and "Audio Description" are still listed under under the generic "Additional Crew".
Redesigned IMDb pages are being localized into Spanish (Mexico & Spain), French (Canada & France), German, Italian, Portugese (Brazil) and Hindi, with more planned in the future.
IMDbPro Premium members can now choose from nearly 500 specific tags in various categories to help them appear in niche searches (ie. "Motion Capture Artist," "Narrator", "Audiobook Narrator","Creature Voice").
NAVA badges and SAG verification badges can be displayed for IMDbPro members creating a another mark of professionalism and credibility. There are also IMDbpro discount codes available on these and other professional sites.
Upcoming Feature to Watch
IMDb is working on several upcoming features including this one that would directly benefit voice actors :
Industry Standards: IMDb says it's committed to expanding its 45+ professional headliner categories. There is talk about further refining "Digital Performance" (MoCap and AI-assisted voice work) to ensure actors are properly credited as technology changes the creatives industry.
Keeping on eye out for the latest IMDb updates for voice actors will help you stay ahead in the competitive voice acting market. I have also found downloading the IMDbpro app makes checking, updating and requesting credits now easier than ever before.
